Dr. David Huyser was born in West Michigan and his relatives are found throughout Holland, Grand Rapids, and the Muskegon area. At the age of seven he moved to California and lived there until entering Vanderbilt University in Nashville, then transferring to Hope College and graduating with honors. He continued his education and received his Dental Degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and his post graduate orthodontic training at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
Dr. Huyser has been creating beautiful smiles in the Holland and Grand Rapids area for over 20 years. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This signifies a unique achievement, a step beyond the two years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. Nationally, less than half of the orthodontists in the United States are certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. He is also a member of
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Michigan Association of Orthodontists
- College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics
- American Dental Association
- Michigan Dental Association
- West Michigan District Dental Society, chairman of the Tooth Time Task Force
- Kent County Dental Society
- Holland/Zeeland Dental Society
On a personal note, he is first and foremost a husband and father. His professional obligations extend well beyond the orthodontic practice to include organized dentistry and volunteer activities. However, creativity is his passion and not only allows him to create beautiful smiles, but woodworking in many different forms, photography and gardening. Feel free to explore some examples of his work below.
